Big House Holidays In Thorpeness
Big House Holidays In Thorpeness Thorpeness sits right on the Suffolk Coast, just to the north of Aldeburgh. It was transformed into a holiday village in the early 20th century by architect and barrister, Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie. You will find a wonderful selection of Big House Holiday homes in Thorpeness, perfect for large groups of friends or family holidaying on the coast.
Something of a fairytale setting, the village of Thorpeness is made up of mock Tudor houses set around a shallow, sixty-four acre meare. Whether it be the seventy foot high 'House in the Clouds', which overlooks the pretty village, or the delightful, Peter Pan themed island hideouts dotted throughout the meare, you will be hard pressed to find somewhere with components as curious and magical as those in Thorpeness.
Right on the beach, you can enjoy a quintessential village environment, charming and characterful, as well as the superb seaside location, for lazy days of picnics and sunbathing.
Thorpeness is within walking distance of the ever popular town of Aldeburgh, home to award-winning fish and chips, a magnificent annual carnival and, formerly, Benjamin Britten. You can also take a drive to RSPB Minsmere, the popular nature reserve in Westleton, or to the fantastic seaside town of Southwold to the north. There's also Snape Maltings, venue for the popular music festival, started by Britten, and the wonderful market towns of Framlingham and Woodbridge nearby.
The perfect holiday location!
