About the property

If you’re looking for a really special place to holiday with a large group of friends or family, look no further. The Whin is a beautiful family home, whose owners would love holidaymakers to enjoy the property as much as they have. The living accommodation is superb, with an impressive open plan kitchen/diner just perfect for entertaining, two separate sitting rooms, one for adults and one for children, and not to mention the fantastic four acre woodland garden, heated outdoor swimming pool and tennis court. You’ll have a whale of a time!

This property is ideal for extended family get-togethers, and those looking for peace, tranquillity, and exclusivity. The countryside surrounding the property is beautiful, in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Suffolk Coast. With secret woodland paths leading straight from the house, children will be in their element - hide and seek, den-building, tennis, swimming (April to September), discovering the secret woodland swings, wendy house, and nature trails are but some of the activities families can enjoy within the grounds.

Guests interested in music are perfectly situated a five minute drive from Snape Maltings Concert Hall, set amongst breath-taking scenery on the River Alde. The composer Benjamin Britten was inspired by the vast skies and moody seas of the Suffolk coast, and in 1948, along with singer Peter Pears, he founded the Aldeburgh Festival. The area in general is terrific for walking, cycling and bird-watching. Snape is ideally situated just 10 minutes’ drive from Aldeburgh; a quaint and idyllic town on the Suffolk Coast, offering a great selection of pubs, restaurants, shops and boutiques. Grounds

You approach The Whin via a quiet single track lane. There is approximately four acres of wooded garden, surrounded by further woodland waiting to be explored. A sunny terrace is to the side and back of the property, where a table and chairs are provided for outside dining. There is a large area laid to lawn, and beyond this is the outdoor heated swimming pool (available April – September), and tennis court. The pool house provides changing facilities, including shower, and, with a self-contained kitchenette, makes a great place to store drinks and food to enjoy by the pool.

Parking

Ample off-road parking available on the drive.

Sleeps

Sleeps 10 – Four double rooms and one twin room.

Rates

Rates will vary between £2004 and £3000 per week, depending on the season.

Minimum Hire

3 nights, except in high season when it’s a week.

Also

No smoking permitted.

Two well behaved dogs are welcome via prior arrangement, but guests are kindly asked to keep their dogs in the kitchen/dining area only, and not to allow pets on the furniture.

The owner would prefer no stag parties.

And of course no trip to the Suffolk seaside would be complete without eating takeaway fish and chips on the beach. We recommend The Golden Galleon , for plump, juicy and succulent fish. Scrumptious.

The Crown, Snape

A twenty minute walk down a quiet lane from The Whin. A great pub that uses its own home-reared produce including quails, geese, chickens, ducks, turkeys, lamb, and rare breed pigs. All their fish is bought directly from Orford fishermen. A fantastic menu. Click here for website
