About the property

A stunning conversion of a large and imposing Suffolk barn making full use of its wonderful space and height to create a huge and delightful open plan living area which oozes comfort, warmth and homeliness. Exciting contemporary features such as the four sided log burning stove sit comfortably with a relaxing collection of antique and contemporary furniture. Intimate reclining spaces lie within areas equally suitable for large scale entertainment. The galley kitchen has the wow factor we all seek and is well equipped and great to cook in, open and hidden at the same time.

There are ground floor bedrooms and state of the art bathrooms on both the ground and first floor, and an upstairs galleried sitting area. Staircases are as much a feature of the house as the various reception areas and the vaulted ceilings. But despite its unique design - which has won well deserved international awards – it maintains an intimacy and practicality unusual in properties with this much panache.

The grounds

A lawned garden to the front of the barn; doors open from the sitting areas, kitchen and hall to a courtyard garden to the rear, with charming open farm barns beyond which is a walled area with heated outside swimming pool and terrace with loungers. The old granary has been converted to sleep an additional two people and makes a wonderful retreat for family who might want respite from the rest of the party. Beyond the drive is a further landscaped area and paddocks. Parking

There is parking for at least 4 – 5 cars in the drive

Sleeping

Sleeps 10 in 4 double bedrooms and 2 single bedrooms (with a further double bedroom in the Granary across the courtyard)

The property is ideal for

A large family gathering: birthday celebration, Christmas or New Year party or group of friends. Sheppard’s Farm Barn makes the ideal holiday property for families or groups of friends visiting the Suffolk coast at Aldeburgh and Orford, the heated swimming pool a delight for all generations.

In the heart of The Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Shepphards Farm Barn is in the quiet little village of Tunstall, just a couple of miles from Snape and the internationally renowned Snape Maltings Concert Hall, home of Aldeburgh Music, overlooking the Alde Estuary.

The Snape Concert Hall is part of the Snape Maltings complex which has craft and art shops, a Suffolk pub with restaurant, tea rooms and lovely walks along the River Alde.

With Tunstall and Rendlesham Forests just minutes away this is a great base for walkers and cyclists and anyone visiting the Heritage coast at Aldeburgh and Thorpeness.

Orford with its fine restaurants and ferry links to RSPB Havergate Island and Orford Ness (National Trust) is just five miles away. Minsmere, one of the most famous RSPB reserves and the fascinating lost city of Dunwich - now a tiny village - are well worth a visit, as are Walberswick and Southwold.

Nearest pub The Green Man, Tunstall but do consider booking The British Larder at Bromeswell for an excellent dinner

Entertainment

Large flatscreen TV, DVD player and music centre.

Packing tips

Wellingtons and walking boots will be very useful so you can have a good old stomp along the coast without ruining your best shoes! Don’t forget beach towels, fishing nets and crabbing lines. And of course in summer, don\\\'t forget your swimming costumes!
