Just a couple of hours drive from London brings you to this wild and wonderful coastal beach. Just a few beachside houses, some rare and beautiful seaside plants and birds, fresh air and fine walks.
Alde House has that wonderful beach house feel, but with an emphasis on comfort. A delightful combination of antique and modern furnishing, the house has been decorated in warm sunny colours with an eye to comfort. Two lovely log burning stoves plus full central heating keep the house toasty in winter, the AGA in the kitchen providing that country house feel, backed up by the very latest in electric ovens, gas rings etc.
A small beach garden to the seaward side, spacious and private garden to the rear and a walled west facing terrace mean that you can make the most of al fresco eating, even in chilly weather. The layout of Alde House ensures that you have wonderful beach and sea views from almost every room. Other rooms look out over the attractive garden and the coastal marshes where the rare and wonderful Suffolk Punch horses graze - absolutely stunning.
Child friendly the garden has the added bonus of a Wendy House and sand pit.
Shingle Street itself is the ultimate escape from city life. In addition to its wonderful beach and coastal walks there is good windsurfing (for those that know what they are doing), sea fishing and horse riding close by at Poplar Park from where you can take hacks across this lovely heathland coastal area or have riding lessons.
Just a short drive from Orford, Aldeburgh and Snape there is no shortage of great places to eat. Concerts at Snape Maltings throughout the year and summer theatre at Aldeburgh.
